All the Features and Benefits of Streetbond150™ with Specialized Characteristics

Asphalt treated with StreetBondSR™ coating, Color Irish Cream, SRI=50 (Brooklyn, NYC)
Asphalt treated with StreetBondSR™ coating, Color Irish Cream, SRI=50 (Brooklyn, NYC)

StreetBondSR™ incorporates specialized characteristics that reduce Urban Heat Island Effect by minimizing the amount of solar energy absorbed by pavement surfaces. Reducing Heat Island Effect helps minimize urban impact on microclimate through the use of hardscape material with high solar reflectance.

StreetBondSR™ Reduces Urban Heat Island Effect

Pavement surfaces are a leading cause of Urban Heat Island Effect contributing roughly 30-40% of the urban footprint. Reducing Heat Island Effect lowers energy consumption and can potentially cut air conditioning bills up to 33%.i Not to mention, cooler pavements mean safer more comfortable pavements as well.

Cooler Pavements Mean Safer More Comfortable Pavements

Available in a range of both light and dark colors, StreetBondSR™ can contribute LEED® credits to sustainable construction projects and is an ideal and affordable solution for green hardscape design. StreetBondSR™ can be used on untextured asphalt and also as the color treatment component for StreetPrint® – genuine stamped asphalt.

StreetBondSR™ can contribute LEED® credits under the following categories:

 1. Sustainable Sites (SSc7.1) – Heat Island Effect – Non-Roof

 2. Green Neighborhood Development – Green Infrastructure and Buildings – Heat Island Reduction (GIB Credit 9)

One credit can be realized through the use of surface materials which have a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 29 or higher applied to at least 50% of the sites total hardscape including parking lots, roads, sidewalks and courtyards.

What is Solar Reflectance?

The solar reflectance index (SRI) is a measure of a material's ability to reject solar heat, as shown by a small temperature rise. Standard black is 0 and standard white is 100. For example, a standard black surface has a temperature rise of 90°F (50°C) in full sun, and a standard white surface has a temperature rise of 14.6°F (8.1°C). Once the maximum temperature rise of a given material has been computed, the SRI can be calculated by interpolating between the values.

Introducing NEW StreetBondSR™ – LEED® parking lot series

StreetBond150™ LEED® parking lot series contributes to sustainable parking lot design and helps keep them looking new and clean.

Dark colors with high solar reflectance

Durable and value priced, StreetBondSR™ – LEED® parking lot series unique formulation combines high solar reflectance with easily maintainable colors. Developed to help reduce parking lot maintenance and cleaning costs. It is available in specific colors designed to help hide the inevitable soiling and wear and tear parking lots experience, keeping them looking new and clean.
